FBA creates workshops based on capacity and skill needs for businesses and organizations working in the forest health and forest products sectors. Workshops are typically led be experts, but our philosophy of peer-learning and participatory approaches maximizes learning and networking.

Startup Pathways

The business world is full of startup stories and legends, but they’re not focused on businesses in the wood products industry. Starting a wood products business in California is exceptionally challenging, given the lack of infrastructure and permitting, and the difficulty of obtaining long-term (>3 years) feedstock contracts from government agencies such as the Forest Service. We held a workshop with Do Good CFO on March 11 and 12, 2026 to address these issues and build capacity with wood product businesses. Grant closeout
